Minister of State for Finance Mr. Ranjith Siambalapitiya says that there is no hope of raising tax percentages or introducing indirect taxes in the near future.
He said that the price of goods will not increase due to indirect taxes and said that the price of goods is determined on the basis of supply and demand.
He further said that a new property tax is expected to be introduced in 2025 and it will be a direct tax on property and only those with higher properties will be taxed.
