Setting a record in history, Ministry of Tourism data reports that 115,000 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka on the first 15 days of February 2024. Only 107,639 tourists have arrived in the entire month of February 2023.
Also, 323,000 tourists have arrived in the first 6 weeks of 2024. Only 210,000 tourists have arrived in the first 2 months of 2023.
However, the UPI payment system was introduced for Indian tourists to make payments with their own money and it was started by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Indian Prime Minister Modi.
It is a special matter that Indian authorities are also encouraging Indian tourists to visit Sri Lanka.
